Right Place, Right Time

 Today we brainstormed five places that are the right places for us to be online at school. We also learnt how to take a screenshot and add a link to our photos.

Getting to know our Chromebooks

 Today we learnt about the keyboard on our chromebooks. There are loads of keys that make our chromebooks easier to use. We also learnt about the keyboard shortcuts. If you have any other tips or tricks or any cool things we can do in our chromebooks, do let us know. We would be eager to learn.

Pacific Ocean

Trip to Te Tuhi Art Centre

 Today we had a trip to Te Tuhi Art Centre and we learnt about the Pacific culture and stories from the Pacific. We also did some Artwork using signs and symbols inspired by the Polynesian Tapa. We used shape, line and colour, with wet and dry materials. Our Artwork shares a story about who we are. Here is a glimpse of what we did:

 Mind map about the school journal "No girls allowed"

This week we used Google Drawing to create a mind map regarding the school journal "No girls Allowed". It was a really interesting story where the writer explores what it means to make a difficult decision as a group to protect the interests of one person in that group – and the cost of taking a stand.

Trip to Maritime Museum

 Today we had an educational trip to Maritime Museum to learn and experience the sea. We attended a workshop about immigration and identity. We came to know that New Zealand was just discovered about 1000 years ago. We also sailed on the TED ASHBY for an hour - long cruise in Auckland's Harbour; saw the city skyline, Sky Tower and Auckland Harbour Bridge from the sea. It was fascinating to see cannon firing at the museum. Then we went to explore the Museum Gallery. Here are some snapshots:

Nanogirl Show

 Today we had a very special assembly on Nanogirl. It is a show about science hosted by Dr Jude. She is a scientist and also an engineer. She informed us about the job done by a scientist and an engineer. It was very educational and inspiring. She also did a very experiments with some volunteers from the school. Here are some snapshots from the show:

Leaning about My Maps

Today we learnt about My maps. We learnt how to go to My Maps from our class site. We were also given a slide each and we inserted our own maps in it. It was really exciting to take a screenshot of the map and insert it on our pages. We also inserted the links so that our classmates can use the link to go to our maps.

Trip to Buddhist Temple

Today we visited the Buddhist Temple in Flatbush, Manukau. It was really cool as we learnt about 3G: Do Good Deeds Say Good Words Think Good Thoughts. We Also learnt about the 4G: Give Confidence, Give Joy, Give Hope, Give Convenience. We made a Lotus flower and learnt the importance of it. We were also given refreshments (Laba Congee made from rice). We learnt about Buddha and did some exercise to calm ourselves down. It was a really fruitful trip.

Visit from the Tōia Library

Today we had a visitor from Tōia Library. Mr Bevis came to our class and read books to us. Reading with expression to gain our attention was the best part. The stories were really awesome. After that he gave us fake tattoo and it was so cool.
